Analogous device

MDCG 2020-5 mentions analogous devices as a source of information, for example on hazards and the state of the art, when demonstrating equivalence is not possible. Data from analogous devices does not replace clinical data from an equivalent device.

An analogous device, in this context, is understood as a medical device which is similar in terms of functioning and risks profile and has a medical purpose.
