Parallel group design

Parallel groups avoid interference between treatments but need more subjects than a paired design to detect the same difference. Randomization is used to keep the groups comparable.

An (unpaired) design in which each study subject or subject specimen is assigned only one of several interventions or diagnostic tests being studied.
