Validation data set

Because the validation set can come from the training data, it cannot replace an independent test set. MDCG 2025-6 quotes the AI Act definitions so that device documentation can use them consistently.

Article 3 (31) AIA ‘validation data set’ means a separate data set or part of the training data set, either as a fixed or variable split;
